“When we’re living in the fear of what may happen, we aren’t able to live in the love of what is happening.”
— Antuan Magic Raimone
Welcome to my world(s).
Does who you are in a professional setting reflect who you are personally? If your answer is no, that’s ok. For many years, how I felt as a performer on-stage was confident, powerful and irresistible. When off-stage I felt insecure, insignificant and far less powerful. It took time, help, work and patience to learn that who I became on-stage existed within me no matter where I was.
I’m a Black man, a Gay man, a Survivor of sexual violence, a performer, a son, a lover, a friend…and I, like most of us, have had dark moments. I continue to deal with my fears so I can choose to come from a place of love. My life is now about how we can live in our own light, even when we are surrounded by darkness and I share my own journey so you will know you’re not alone.
Song and dance were my form of expression before I knew words were an option.
And so I came to consider dance a form of love.
“Nobody I know does it like Antuan. Nobody.
As an event planner, I’d say if you’re looking for an inspirational speaker, he’s your guy.”
— Blake Kush, Director of Training and Outreach, NY State Office of Victim Services
“That’s why Magic is such a powerful speaker: He allows intimacy to be shared between himself and the audience while still maintaining boundaries, so no one feels uncomfortable or obligated. He leaves an audience member thinking, It’s possible for me to forget. It’s possible for me to be bigger. It’s possible for me to make a difference.”
— Tricia Brouk, Executive Producer, Speakers Who Dare, former Executive Producer of TEDxLincolnSquare in New York City, host of The Big Talk podcast
“The line of people queued up to meet him snaked across the entire ballroom, and he stayed until every last person had had that opportunity.”
— Joe Storch, Associate Counsel, Office of General Counsel at the State University of NY (SUNY)
